DUET is a 3D, physics-based energy yield model out of SUNLAB at the University of Ottawa, with more than a decade of R&D behind it. It simulates what a plant should produce at every timestep of a 30-year life, compares that against what the field actually did, and attributes the gap down to the component. Conventional monitoring can tell you a plant is underperforming; working out why is the hard part. R&D sits at the same table as engineering here, so the physics and the software get built against each other.
The rest of the work is heavy on data: analytical queries over fleet-scale time-series, streaming pipelines feeding live analytics, on-prem software that keeps running when the WAN doesn't, and dashboards that have to stay fast at that scale.
You don't need a solar or energy background. The domain is interesting and our customers are sophisticated. You'll pick it up.
